Marisela Ortega-Gomes, M.A., P.C.

Ms. Ortega-Gomes is a 2005 graduate of John's Hopkins Universtiy in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling.  Ms. Ortega Gomes's previous college experience focused on psychology, and she was additionally trained in the area of Special Education in her native country, Venezuela, where she was employed as an elementary and preschool teacher. 

Prior to her employment at Northeast Ohio Behavioral Health, Ms. Ortega-Gomes was the Multigenerational Family Therapy Program Coordinator at the Aetna Foundation Children Center, St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford, Connecticut.  Within this role, she provided a wide variety of clinical services to children and families affected by trauma, and employed Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Relational Trauma Treatment approaches in her work with child and adolescent clients and their families. Previous employment experiences included the provision of extensive case management and treatment services to children and families within a long-term treatment context.  

Ms. Ortega-Gomes is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has enhanced her clinical skills with considerable investment in additional training and experience in Play Therapy, Art Therapy and SandTray techniques.  She has received extensive supervision in the use of SandTray materials, and brings this expertise to her work with individuals that are impacted by trauma.  

As a native of Venezuela, Ms. Ortega-Gomes is fluent in Spanish, and is able to utilize these skills so that Spanish-speaking clients can participate in mental health treatment services that are delivered in their primary language.
